LANDSCAPES: The Visible and Non-Visible

11 - 31 October 2024

We are delighted to present Landscapes The Visible and Non-Visible, a solo exhibition of new paintings by Deborah Cox at Aleph Contemporary in conjunction with the Autumn Arts Trail .

Deborah Cox, winner of The 2023 Laurie Lee Prize for Literature,is an artist as well as a writer. Her work emanates from a sense of place, namely Gloucestershire, where she grew up.

Her response to the landscape, using waterbased media is immediate, expressive and visceral. Having grown up in a village with ‘roses round the door’,she is not concerned with the Romantic or Picturesque but with the unseen; the non visible. In both her writing and painting she explores issues of family dysfuction, intensive farming and river pollution.

This exhibition ‘Landscapes: the visible and non visible’,offers rich, evocative landscapes, both framed and unframed of Gloucestershire and beyond.
