Nick Grellier is a UK-based visual artist using detritus found on roads and footpaths as
source material; and papers, photographs and textiles from house clearances and family archives as reference and substrates for her work across drawing, collage and
assemblage. Employing simple methods and low value materials and considering the
human condition, systems and habits, the works speak to ideas about hierarchies in art
and life and offer a deadpan reflection on behaviours and responses to the
tragicomic state of being human. Grellier plays with misconception and jokes to describe serious subjects such as illness, family issues, authority and the absurdities of community and small town life.
