Mark Houghton is a distinguished artist and educator, celebrated for his abstract sculptures and paintings that delve into the relationship with the built environment. His work, often incorporating everyday objects, is a quest to uncover and elevate the unnoticed aspects of daily life, creating a visual poetry of the ordinary. Educated at Middlesex University and Cardiff Metropolitan University, Houghton has exhibited widely across the UK and internationally, and has been involved in residencies in Spain and the USA. A key part of his career has been his dedication to teaching Fine Art, with a special focus on Sculpture, at Hereford College of Arts and Cardiff Metropolitan University since 1997.
